There are many different coin sorters and counters available in the UK. Purchasing the correct coin counter is crucial. Although all coin counters will count coins, different coin counters will perform differently. For example, some coin counters can off sort foreign or damaged coins, were as some coin sorters will only process UK sterling coins. Finding the correct coin sorter for your requirements will depend on a range of factors:
Total number of coins being counted (best estimate) and frequency of coin counts - some coin sorters, such as the Talaris Mach 6, are designed to be used all day every day, others, like the CS205 Coin Sorter are more light duty and suitable for intermitent or low volume use.
Mix of coins -are you counting all 8 UK coin denominations? Some coin sorters, like the Talaris Mach 3 Coin Sorter will not process 1p and 2p coins, whereas others, such as the Talaris Mach 6 Coin Sorter will process all Uk coins.
Are the coins from a vending machine or from collection pots? If the coins being processed are from a vending machine source, they are what we call - "clean" - that is they have already be pre-approved so you are unlikley to require a damaged or foreign coin off-sort facility. If your coins are from collections and you are unable to pre-sort them by hand you will require a coin sorter with a damaged or foreign coin off sort facility, such as the CS230 coin sorter or the Talaris Mach 6 WAVE Coin Sorter. If these coin sorters are beyond your budget constraints you could use the Coin Mate to pre-sort your coins into trays of single denominations - this would make it easier both to count and batch them as well as to spot foreign coins.
Are the coins pre-sorted - if not would you consider a second machine to seperate the coins before counting them by weight? The Coin Mate Coin Sorter could be used to sort the coins into their different coin denominations and a count by weight cash counter, wuch as the Safescan 6155 or Omal Count Easy could be used to check weigh the coin bags.
Do you need the coin counter to batch the coins? Some coin counters are designed to count and batch pre-sorted coins. For example, if you have a car park payment machine that only accepts £1 coins for payment, you could the CS210 single coin counter to count and batch all your £1 coins.
